Weight Watchers
Weight Watchers
Weight Watchers was founded in the 1960s. It offers assistance for weight loss and provides dieting products. As a weight loss support group, Weight Watchers has become one of the most successful weight loss companies in the world - operating in almost 30 countries around the world.
Weight Watchers offers two programs - the Flex or Points program and the Core program. Each program offers a support group (which is optional) and provides training materials for clients to learn how to make healthy life choices.
The Points or Flex program is based on the idea that you are allotted a certain amount of points each week - each food is given a point system. You can eat what you want as long as it fits within your allotted points. You have flexibility in choosing what you eat. If you go over on points, you can exercise more to make up for the additional points used.
The Core program classifies a range of foods as "core" foods - you can eat as much as you want - as long as you eat until you're satisfied and not until you are full. Any non-core food is given points and you are allowed use 35 points per week.

Not only does Weight Watchers provide a diet program but they offer a philosophy which is about maintaining a healthy lifestyle - mentally, physically and emotionally. You are not only provided with dietary structure, but also advice and information so you can make the best decisions about your own health.
With the support group structure, Weight Watchers provides motivation and support that many find to be essential to their success. The weekly group meetings provide tips, and encouragement as well as provides accountability. When you have to show others how you did during the week, you are more likely to try to stay on track.
