For a healthy lifestyle, we require essential nutrients from proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Proper nutrition is required for cell construction, brain and cell wall construction, and other essential functions. Any diet that does not include proper nutrition can threaten general health and cause medical problems.
Nutrition is vital for good health. We need to make sure our bodies are able to absorb nutrients and our digestive enzymes are balanced, otherwise we can eat properly but not get the benefits from proper nutrition.
The American diet is lacking in optimal nutrition. Many medical experts agree that nutritional supplements may be necessary to subsidize our diets. Other experts believe if we would return to simple and natural eating patterns, we could get all of the nutrients necessary.
Supplementation can be dangerous when people take excessive amounts of vitamins and minerals. Iron poisoning is possible. Vitamin A is toxic in large amounts. So if you choose to supplement your diet in order to get proper nutrition, it is recommended you work with your doctor or a professional nutritionist to make sure you are getting what your body needs.
