The Best Life Diet

Oprah wrote the forward to the Best Life Diet: "Another thing I know for sure now is that you've got to ask yourself, What kind of life do you want and how close are you to living it? You cannot ever live the life of your dreams without coming face to face with the truth. Every unwanted pound creates another layer of lies. It's only when you peel back those layers that you will be set free: Free to work out, free to eat responsibly, free to live the life you want and deserve to live. Tell the truth and you'll learn to eat to satisfy your emotional hunger and stop burying your hopes and dreams beneath layers of fat."

The first step to losing weight is setting a realistic goal. Changing a subject's dietary intake, or "going on a diet", can change the energy balance and increase or lower the amount of fat stored by the body. Weight loss, in the context of medicine or health, is a reduction of the total body weight, which can mean loss of fluid, muscle or bone mass, or fat.

The Best Life Diet is a new diet designed by Bob Greene - Oprah's personal diet and workout coach.

The Best Life program is a way of life eating plan - not the traditional diet plan. It's a healthy diet plan. The diet is created to help people lose weight and keep the weight off. It helps you develop habits that will reduce potential medical problems in the future like diabetes, heart disease and other problems.

With The Best Life Diet you will also learn why you eat -- and be able to deal with the emotions that cause you to eat.

Greene's basic diet rules are:

1) Eat three meals plus at least one snack daily.

2) Don't eat at least two hours before going to bed.

3) Stay hydrated.

4) Eliminate alcohol for now.

5) Take a daily multivitamin/mineral supplement.

Bob Greene is endorsing pedometers as a key component to improving health.

Greene has created The Best Life Diet in order to help individuals understand and deal with living a healthy lifestyle and getting in shape. The book, which was released in late December 2006, is a New York Times Best-Seller.

The Best Life Activity Scale has six different levels of physical activity. Each level includes an aerobic component and a steps-per-day component that helps people to calculate how much they are moving.

To determine steps per day, participants of The Best Life Diet are encouraged to use a Pedometer to track steps taken during normal daily activities, plus any steps taken while doing formal exercise like brisk walking or jogging.

Pedometers are great to provide motivation needed to reach personal goals over an extended period of time.

The Best Life Diet gives individuals the tools they need to change their lives. In each of the three phases, participants are asked to re-examine the decisions they make every day and slowly change behaviors to achieve lasting results.
